You have the opportunity to get district heating in your residential area. We are eager to help you make the switch to green energy – and hopefully make the transition as simple and affordable as possible. That’s why we have created a guide with three simple steps.
What is district heating?
District heating works by heating large amounts of water centrally, which is then sent through a network of pipes to the homes and buildings connected to the district heating system.
With district heating, you receive more climate-friendly heat from green energy sources such as electricity, straw, wood chips, solar energy, and surplus heat from local companies.
The goal for the Sønderborg area is for district heating to be fully CO2-neutral by 2029 using renewable energy sources.
By switching to district heating, you will significantly reduce your CO2 footprint compared to individual heating with fossil fuels like oil or gas.
Advantages of district heating
Stable and adaptable
District heating uses a wide range of energy sources, making it a reliable and adaptable heating solution.
The combination of energy sources also ensures that you get a competitive price for heating, regardless of the season and market fluctuations.
Easy, convenient, and future-proof
Once district heating is installed, it is very easy and maintenance-free. In fact, you don’t need to do anything other than enjoy the affordable and green heating solution.
A more climate-friendly heat
An oil boiler emits an average of 5,600 kg of CO2 per year, while a gas boiler emits 3,800 kg.
In the Sønderborg area, we are working diligently to make the energy CO2-neutral by the end of 2029.
Cleaner air quality
Oil and gas boilers contribute to local air pollution by emitting harmful substances such as sulfur dioxide (SO₂) and nitrogen oxides (NOx).
By switching to district heating, you are helping improve air quality.
How to replace your oil or gas boiler
When it says “contact your local utility company,” you will find the details at the end of the guide.
