Are you considering replacing your current heating system with an individual heat pump? You now have the opportunity to join forces with others and receive a joint offer with a bulk discount. A number of citizens have already received the offer, and interest is so strong that it is now being opened to everyone.

2026 could be a good year to switch to a heat pump. Not only is the Danish Energy Agency’s heat pump grant scheme offering a record subsidy of DKK 27,000 this year, but there may be even more savings to be made – especially if you live in the Sønderborg area and do not have access to district heating.

Local village associations and ProjectZero have joined forces to make it easier for local homeowners to navigate the process of choosing a heat pump, while also creating the opportunity to achieve a bulk discount. If this sounds relevant to you, simply fill in a non-binding expression of interest.

Based on the expressions of interest received, independent energy advisors from Transition will collect and assess offers from different heat pump suppliers and provide each household with an individual recommendation. It is entirely voluntary whether you choose to accept the offer you receive. If you decide to proceed, you will enter into an agreement directly with the supplier. The heat pump will be sized to match your specific home and heating needs.

If you live outside a district heating area, you will receive a notification in your e-Boks in the coming weeks with an invitation to attend one of the information meetings about the project.

FAQ

Can I take part in the joint offer?

Yes, if your home is located in Sønderborg Municipality outside an area where district heating is available or planned.

Fill in the expression of interest

I have already filled in the expression of interest in the autumn – do I need to do it again?

No, you don’t.

How do I stay updated on the process?

The village associations will keep the villages informed about the process, and if you have filled in an expression of interest, you will also receive an email from ProjectZero when there are updates.

How much can I save?

How big a discount can we expect from the joint purchase?

Heat pump suppliers find it difficult to give a concrete answer about discounts without knowing the homes involved and the number of households. However, the more households that join in requesting a joint offer, the better the terms are likely to be. The discount may take the form of a percentage reduction, but it could also be a discount on service or installation. As soon as we know more about the size of the discount, we will share the details.

What requirements will be set for the heat pumps?

Will there be requirements regarding quality and operational reliability?

The independent advisor (Transition) will ensure, as part of the tender process, that heat pump suppliers address the requirements and criteria set by homeowners—for example regarding noise levels, technical specifications, refrigerants, and similar factors. Warranty and service agreements will also be included in the tender.

Will there be requirements regarding the country of production of the heat pumps?

As a general rule, no requirements are set regarding the brand’s country of origin—only technical requirements apply. However, European and Japanese brands are typically used. If homeowners wish, a requirement can be included that only, for example, European brands are considered.

Can requirements be set to use local installers for the installation?

If this is a wish from the homeowners, it can be included in the tender’s requirements and preferences.

Are air-to-air heat pumps part of the tender?

As a general rule, offers are collected for air-to-water heat pumps. However, if there is strong interest from the villages, it may also be possible to request offers for air-to-air heat pumps.

How long will it take before my heat pump is installed?

We expect the heat pumps to be installed by the end of 2026.
