You can definitely do energy renovations without getting an energy label. But, if you want to apply for subsidies, you need an energy label of D, E, F, or G.

An energy label isn’t free, and there’s no guarantee your home will receive one of the four eligible ratings. However, if your home is rated better than a D, it can increase its market value.

Choose the option that suits you best:

Get energy label and renovate

An energy label costs approximately DKK 4,000–10,000.

If your house receives an energy label of D, E, F, or G,
you can apply for renovation subsidies through the
Energy Renovation Fund.

You can also make use of the craftsman deduction.

Renovate without an energy label

If you want to renovate without an energy label,
you can either perform your own home review
or hire a professional for an energy check.

You cannot apply for subsidies from the Energy Renovation Fund.

However, you can use the tax deduction for craftsmen.
