We need to move away from fossil fuels and towards green electricity

We must transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources. Today, a portion of our district heating and electricity already originates from sustainable sources. The objective is for all electrical outlets in the Sønderborg area to exclusively supply renewable energy, such as wind turbines and solar panels, by 2029. Additionally, our district heating system is set to become carbon-neutral. Consequently, it makes perfect sense, from an environmental perspective, to replace gasoline-powered vehicles with electric ones and to substitute oil or gas-fired heating with district heating or heat pumps.

On a national scale, the goal is to phase out all private gas heaters by 2035. However, in Sønderborg, we hold more ambitious aims, targeting 2029. Natural gas will be reserved for our industries requiring extremely high temperatures in their manufacturing processes, where district heating or heat pumps are insufficient.
